Radiohead Gives the Recording Industry the Finger

Bands have been making their albums available via digital download for years now, but the latest Radiohead album--titled In Rainbows--is taking it one step further. On October 10, 2007 it'll be available for download for whatever price the listener thinks is fair. Twenty dollars? Sure. One? You bet. For the really obsessive a fully-loaded discbox set that includes 2 CDs, 2 vinyl LPs, digital photos, additional songs, and artwork will be available for $81 (or forty pounds, in Radiohead-speak).

All without involvement of a record label.

Obviously, this sort of thing won't work too well for a band that doesn't already have a huge following, but it does make for an interesting gimmick.

Here's the tracklist:

CD one and vinyl:
  1. 15 Step
  2. Bodysnatchers
  3. Nude
  4. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
  5. All I Need (See video above for a preview of this one.)
  6. Faust Arp
  7. Reckoner
  8. House of Cards
  9. Jigsaw Falling into Place
  10. Videotape

CD two and vinyl:
  1. MK 1
  2. Down is the New Up
  3. Go Slowly
  4. MK 2
  5. Last Flowers
  6. Up on the Ladder
  7. Bangers and Mash
  8. 4 Minute Warning
